What’s in a diet?
 
Today, more than ever, people are starting new diets and eating healthy. As a personal trainer, I often get asked for advice about specific diets on the market today. I normally don’t suggest the specific name of a diet. I make an assessment of their current diet along with their current goals for weight and fitness. Then I

determine their dietary needs based on the information they give me. No two diets are the same.

The name of your diet should be your name; e.g. Bob Smith’s Diet. There are many great diets out there, but most should be used as a guideline. Your diet should be specific to you and your health needs. The number one advice about diet should come from your doctor or a nutritionist. Sometimes, just making small changes to your current diet can make a positive impact on your health!  Success always starts at the beginning, so start your diet today! And remember, your diet is for you only.

30 Day Abs?

As a personal trainer, I often get asked, “If I train real hard and diet, can I get abs in 30 days?” My answer usually goes something like this, “Not like the ones you see on TV. But you can definitely improve your waist line in that amount of time.”
If you are even slightly over weight, the possibility of creating sculptured abs in four weeks is next to impossible, however it is not impossible to trim up your waistline and firm up your mid section in that amount of time.
Setting realistic goals for your diet and fitness is the first step towards success. You should write down your goals.

December Goals
1. Start a new exercise program
2. Work on a healthy calorie reduction diet
3. Lose 5 pounds by January
4. Trim my waist by two sizes
5. Fit into the dress I bought last Spring

These are goals that are obtainable. Reaching these goals will help you look and feel great about yourself! Remember that a little self-esteem goes a long way!
